Strategy
What We DoHupomeno is a globally-focused organization that seeks, in the name of Christ, to provide sustainable and life changing opportunities for the poor, the disenfranchised and the powerless. This is accomplished in three ways:
1) Engage the poor by partnering with like-minded organizations to identify existing businesses that we can partner and to provide training and financial assistance to help in the start up of new businesses around the world
2) Empower the poor by paying a fair price for the goods they produce
3) Tranform their communities by investing profits back into the community where the goods were originated through initiatives targeting the poor, the disenfranchised and the powerless
Hupomeno efforts to partner and support:
• Those who lack the basic necessities of life (clean water, clothing, shelter)
• Those who are suffering the consequences (directly or indirectly) of the ravishing effect of HIV/AIDS
• Those who were orphaned and left with no one to shepherd them through life
• Those who have been freed from slavery (sex-trafficking, forced labor, etc…)
• Those who are trapped in a religious world-view that chains them to the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder
DIstinctive Approach
1) Holistic Approach to Change: When Hupomeno initially engages a community it seeks to partner with organizations to empower individuals with the tools and marketplace necessary to create a sustainable way of living and hope for the future. However, we do not stop there. We believe that the most strategic way to positively affect the community at large is to reinvest in programs targeting the poor, disenfranchised and hopeless. By doing this we are able to multiply our effectiveness in creating long term change.
2) Consumer Driven Giving: Hupomeno re-invests net profits back into the community through a limited number of strategic programs that target key poverty indicators. Consumers who purchases goods off the website will be able to direct which initiative they desire the profits from their purchase to be directed (ex. orphan care, clean water, HIV/AIDS relief, slave abolishment, etc...).
