ALARM exists to empower the African church to impact the African continent by developing and equipping leaders with skills and tools to nurture and deepen the Christian faith for the transformation and reconciliation of the African communities.
The Athentikos: Guatemala documentary film project exposes needs through inspiring stories. In 1996, a thirty-six year civil war ended, but the aftermath continues to have a rippling effect, leaving Guatemala with the highest poverty, illiteracy and murder rate in Latin America. But hope is rising. People with little are giving everything to impact others in their communities. The 90-minute documentary features the personal stories of four individuals responding to the needs in their communities. Their stories are woven together to raise awareness and expose the needs, but ultimately to inspire others to respond: either in Guatemala or in their own communities. Film media is a powerful tool to raise awareness and call others to respond. Viewers can respond financially or go on a hands-on short term Vision trip. The documentary will be viewed and distributed in a variety of venues in the United States and Latin America. We will facilitate resources and interest by donating proceeds from the DVD sales to local Guatemala service organizations meeting the needs of education, health, poverty, rehabilitation, orphan care and community development.(The Film Project will be completed spring 2010)
