Hupomeno

Mission Statement

Hupomeno (pronounced hoop-om-en'-o) is a Texas 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our purpose is to glorify God by providing sustainable life change to the poor, the disenfranchised and the powerless through the provision of opportunity, training, resources and a market-place to distribute their goods.

Our Name

Hupomeno is a combination of two Greek words. The first word is “hupo” which carries the idea of being under something. The second word is “meno” which has the connotation of remaining, abiding or dwelling. When you put these two words together they communicate the idea of remaining under. The word has been translated as “persevering” or “enduring”. Someone who remains under a burden is said to endure or persevere.

Our Logo

Our logo communicates two of our strongly held convictions:

1) Those who have should reach out to those who do not.  This is represented through the H divided into two parts.  Each side representing two individuals reaching out and locking arms.  Those fortunate enough to have been born in a country where excess is the norm have a responsibility to look out for their fellowman.

2) Success is achieved if and only if we are able to assist in the creation of sustainable life change for those living in physical, spiritual or emotional poverty. This is represented through the “if and only if” logical symbol located in the middle of the H.  The idea behind if and only if statements is that the truth of either one of the statements requires the truth of the other. Thus, either both statements are true, or both are false.  In other words will not consider any effort successful unless it brings hope to those who are hurting.
